Norfolk and Suffolk entrepreneurs get the chance to win £10,000 of business support

Norfolk and Suffolk start-ups are being given the chance to pitch their ideas in a Dragons Den style event to secure £10,000 of support.

The Norfolk Enterprise Festival, New Anglia Local Enterprise Partnership and Anglia Capital Group are giving entrepreneurs the chance to share their ideas with experienced and supportive Angels at the Restart Angels Den event as part of RESTART – the virtual business recovery festival on September 29 and 30.

The winning business will receive £10,000 worth of legal and financial support from top firms Mills & Reeve and Farnell Clarke as well as being fast tracked onto the prestigious Invest East Investment Readiness programme.

To prepare for the big pitch, three selected finalists will receive expert coaching from successful serial entrepreneur Kieran Miles, founder and CEO of DUCO to have the best chance of impressing the Angels. The four Angels have been selected to represent a wealth of business sectors across Norfolk and Suffolk.

They include Sally Goodsell (director, Anglia Capital Group), Louise Birritteri (founder, Pikl), Rob Davison (dounder, Red Roof consulting) and Jo Pearson (MD, Pearsons Group Companies).

Angels Den joint sponsor, James Hunter of Mills & Reeve, Norwich (UK law firm of the year) said: “We are so pleased that Norfolk Enterprise Festival and New Anglia LEP will be running the Festival in September and using it to showcase great innovation. We have been a key supporter of the Norfolk Enterprise Festival from its first year and once again this year we will be offering a package of free legal advice to the winner of the Angels’ Den pitching competition.

"As a firm we are being recognised nationally for innovation – not just big ideas and Eureka moments but any new ideas which help solve businesses’ problems. This is a terrific initiative and we are delighted to be involved.”

Fellow sponsor, Will Farnell of award-winning accountancy firm Farnell Clarke added “We are delighted that Farnell Clarke is able to support New Anglia LEP and the Norfolk Enterprise Festival with the Restart Business Recovery Festival next month. We have seen first-hand the challenges businesses in the East of England have faced and continue to face as the economy starts to re-open."

To apply, businesses need to submit a one-minute video together with completed application form and two-page supporting document by Friday, September 4. Details can be found on www.newanglia.co.uk/restart-festival.

The live pitching will take place on the second day of the Restart Festival on September 30.

The RESTART Festival will provide a packed two-day programme of FREE, live streamed content aimed at Norfolk and Suffolk businesses to kickstart and consolidate their recovery from the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic.

The virtual event will include practical, peer to peer advice sessions, inspirational talks from business leaders, information about available support and dynamic panel sessions exploring local economic opportunities and challenges.
