West Norfolk charity welcomes £5k Mintlyn donation
Borough mayor Nick Daubney presented a donation of £5,000 to bereavement charity Theresa’s Tiny Treasures at Mintlyn Crematorium on Friday.
The money was raised through a charitable scheme, operated by the Institute of Cemetery and Crematorium Management, of which Mintlyn is a member.
The scheme works through the recycling of metal from medical implants following cremation, with the consent of families.
Since it joined the programme in 2011, Mintlyn has donated more than £60,000 to various good causes.
Kathy Mellish, the borough council’s cabinet member for facilities and ICT, said: “Over the years we have been involved in this charitable scheme, we have supported a wide variety of charities, of all sizes, all doing very valuable work to help bereaved people in our area.”
Theresa’s Tiny Treasures founder Theresa McGrath said: “It is a great honour to accept this generous donation.
“It will go a long way to support families losing their longed-for baby.
“This charity is supported by fundraising and donations alone so this is truly wonderful.”
