West Norfolk councillor resigns following election allegations
A West Norfolk councillor at the centre of claims over alleged electoral irregularities has resigned.
David Pope has stepped down as a borough councillor for the Upwell and Delph ward, only days after details of the allegations against him emerged.
Mr Pope confirmed his decision in an email to the Lynn News this afternoon, but said he did not want to make further comment because of his upcoming court case.
He is due to appear before magistrates in Lynn on November 14.
Earlier this week, police said he had been "summoned to court on suspicion of causing or permitting a false signature on an election nomination paper."
