Two long-serving police custody visit volunteers have been honoured for their work.

Rick Parry, from Lynn, left, and Eric Langford, the former chairman of Snettisham parish council, have received long service awards from the Norfolk Police and Crime Commissioner, Stephen Bett.

Between them, they have clocked up 27 years of service as independent custody visitors, meeting people held at police stations across the county.

And Mr Bett said their role was vital to maintaining confidence in the police.

He said: “By visiting detainees and reporting on what they see the ICVs offer public reassurance that the police are doing what they should be and treating people fairly and with respect.”

The commissioner’s office are appealing for more volunteers to join the programme. For more information, phone 01953 424455 or by email ICVAdministrator@norfolk.pnn.police.uk.
