The Gate Inn in Middleton is now the Clara Amfo Arms...temporarily

A West Norfolk village pub has been renamed after a Radio 1 DJ – for now at least.

The Gate Inn at Middleton was suggested last week as a site to honour radio presenter and personality Clara Amfo.

And new signs are now in place at the site after the station sent them through.

Having mentioned she had always wanted a pub named after her, Jack Hindley, son of the pub's managers, Ray and Angie, decided to offer the Gate as an option.

Maybe a visit from the radio presenter and former Strictly Come Dancing contestant herself is next on the cards...who knows.

Angie said today: "I am quite impressed with the sign and I seem to have become a radio star overnight and so has my husband, much to his disgust!

"We might retire and move away and not tell our son Jack where we have gone.

"Greg James is supposed to be popping in for a pint next week.

"We are not permanently changing the name it is just a bit of a joke.

"I suppose being on national radio it has put the place on the map but we just like to tick over with our locals."
