West Norfolk pub scoops prestigious award
A West Norfolk pub has scooped another prestigious award as it reopened its doors to customers this week.
The Angel at Watlington, near Downham, has picked up a LUX Life award for best Dining Pub of the Year.
The venue, which is no stranger to winning awards, is now open between Friday and Sunday during the April changes, where customers can take advantage of the newly-installed (lit and heated) marquee in the beer garden.
Once the pub can finally resume trading inside again, landlords Emily and Richard Crouch will welcome customers between a Wednesday and a Sunday.
Because, out of the many challenges 2020 has brought to many a threshold, it has also offered an opportunity to adapt in unexpected ways - something The Angel has always excelled at.
In 2019, The Angel picked up awards in Best Fine Dining Pub Norfolk and also the Lux Culinary Excellence Award for best Locally-Sourced Produce.
Last year, Covid comeback efforts by the landlords were also recognised with a Tripadvisor Travellers’ Choice award.
Commenting on the winners of this year’s awards programme, co-ordinator Katherine Benton stated: “It’s been a difficult year for the hospitality and food and drink industries.
“With that, I offer my sincere congratulations to all of those recognised. I hope you have a better, and thriving year ahead.”
