Would-be engineers and scientists at schools across in West Norfolk are being invited to join a nationwide competition to design the school science labs of the future.

A prize of £20,000 worth of laboratory furniture is on offer to the winning school in the Lab of the Future competition.

The competition, which is being organised by Stockport-based design company Innova Design Solutions, runs until February 27 and is open to youngsters aged 11 to 16 at secondary schools across England.

Company director Melanie Laing said: “Judges will be looking for ideas that are innovative and original, but entrants also need to take into account how the space will work for students and teachers and think about the health and safety issues involved”.

The winning team will also share a prize of £1,000, with a £250 prize available for an individual entrant.
