Sea Life Sanctuary in Hunstanton is recruiting Sea Witches
Sea Life Sanctuary in Hunstanton is recruiting – witches.
Not just any old kind though, it is looking for two Sea Witches to cast spells over captive audiences for its forthcoming Ascarium event over the Halloween period.
Sea Life, which is part of Merlin Entertainments, has placed a job advert inviting applications from character actors to take on the roles.
The job description is for character actors with a flair for improvisation who can plot, play out their role and interact with guests.
It states: "As the focal character in this special event you will seek to capture our guests' imaginations during a five to ten minute light-hearted show, consisting of making spells, telling Halloween jokes and stories and encouraging audience participation.
"You will be a key presence in the attraction to entertain guests, talk about the ocean and educate and inform guests about the dangers of plastic."
It also says that the role will require supporting the team outside of this event where required, entertaining guests on school trips, birthday parties or other special events.
Operations manager at the Hunstanton attraction, Adam Makinson, told the Lynn News: "It's the first time we have specifically advertised for Sea Witches, although we have had Halloween events before.
"If we find someone who is ideal for this kind of role, we could invite them back to take part in other events in the future. Although the role is for a witch, we might consider a warlock, if we found the right person."
Applicants need to have a background in performance and an ability "to bring outstanding charactersation skills" as well as plenty of stamina.
The Sea Witch jobs are for a fixed term position from October 5 until early November. The hourly rate is £8.55.
Applications are invited up to the closing date of Friday, September 27. Visit www.merlincareers.com for more details.
