WI coffee morning at Discover Downham Heritage Centre raises money for Norfolk Blood Bikes

Downham WI held a coffee morning at Discover Downham Heritage Centre on Friday, a rare outing after the Covid lockdowns.

About 80 people attended and £148 was raised, part of which will go towards the WI's charity Norfolk Blood Bikes who transport blood, plasma, platelets, samples, vaccines and any other urgently required medical products.

The rest of the money will go towards WI funds.

President of Downham WI, Pat Smith said: "It's our first one for quite a while.

"We started back on September 21. It just takes a while to get back to normal. It's so nice to have a coffee morning and see everyone socially.

"We don't have coffee mornings very often. The Downham group does them about twice a year."

Downham WI's next coffee morning is in the autumn while their next fundraiser will be a tombola at the Downham Market Festival held around the Queen's Platinum Jubilee weekend in a month's time.
