Fears were growing this evening after a full-scale search taking place in the sea off Hunstanton for a windsurfer had still failed to locate him this afternoon after nearly 24 hours.
The alarm was raised at 5.20pm yesterday and HM Coastguard has been coordinating a rescue mission that continued throughout the night and was continuing this afternoon.
A spokeswoman for the RNLI said that Hunstanton and Wells all-weather lifeboats, Wells and Hunstanton Inshore lifeboats, Sutton Bridge, Wells, Skegness Coastguard Rescue Teams, and the Coastguard helicopter was involved in the operation.
The Coastguard fixed wing aircraft was also planned to be used in the seach.
Norfolk police and Norfolk Lowland Search and Rescue are also on the scene.
