A sophisticated irrigation system has helped to improve salad crops for a West Norfolk group.
Staff at G’s Growers welcomed South West Norfolk Parliamentary candidate and Secretary of State for Environment, Elizabeth Truss, to their plant near Wissington.
The group, which was formed in 1984, uses advanced technology to create a production line which harvests, washes and packs celery before it leaves the field.
Staff also discussed water issues and showed its sub surface irrigation system, which has advantages for salad crops.
Ms Truss said “Today’s farming is about the use of sophisticated equipment, an understanding of IT, thinking creatively to extend the growing period for crops.”
