Middleton woman Sadie Robertson in King’s Lynn court after biting police officer
A woman bit a police officer on the hand after becoming angry when they wanted to enter her home.
Sadie Robertson, 37, of Churchwood Close in Middleton, appeared at Lynn Magistrates’ Court on Thursday, where she admitted assaulting an emergency worker.
Prosecutor Jessica Neequaye said that at 4.40am on August 10, police were called to Robertson’s address due to a concern for a man’s welfare at the property.
On officer’s arrival, Robertson tried to stop them entering - and starting making threats towards them.
Police gained entry, but throughout their visit, Robertson tried to obstruct them, resulting in her being restrained.
She subsequently decided to bite a police officer on his hand, leaving teeth marks and reddening.
The court heard that Robertson was then punched on the face by the officer before she was arrested.
She was invited to make a formal complaint against the officer, but she did not decide to do so.
In mitigation, solicitor George Sorrell explained that on that day, Robertson’s ex-partner showed up at the property on her child’s birthday despite being unwanted.
“Right from the start, she showed remorse for what she did,” Mr Sorrell said.
“After she bit the officer, instinctively, he punched her in the eye. She was asked to make a complaint but she said no.
“There was a family gathering for the birthday and unfortunately the child’s father came back.
“The defendant was heavily intoxicated but when she sobered up, she was full of remorse and regret.”
Robertson was ordered to pay £100 in compensation to the police officer she bit. She was also fined £200 and ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £80.
