Pentney woman Tiffany Woods kicked out of King’s Lynn court after smoking and speaking over prosecution
A 26-year-old had her court hearing cut short after she was caught smoking and repeatedly speaking over the prosecution.
Appearing via a remote video link at Lynn Magistrates’ Court last Thursday, Tiffany Woods, of Church Close in Pentney, caused chaos in the five minutes she was in the room.
Despite being informed how to behave in court over a video link, Woods became argumentative and refused to stop smoking.
Woods had said she was unable to travel to the Lynn court via public transport, so was granted permission to attend remotely.
She admitted an offence of using threatening words to provoke fear of violence, which took place on June 4 last year.
Prosecutor Anna Crayford told the court that on that date, two members of staff from the Norfolk Community Health Service went to see a patient who lived close to Woods. They parked outside of her house.
Woods repeatedly shouted abuse at the members of staff, with a young child present.
The care staff also found threatening notes attached to their car.
Woods was later interviewed by the police, and she admitted shouting and swearing.
Woods appeared unrepresented in court, but could not provide mitigation for herself as she was removed from the video link. The case resumed in her absence.
Despite speaking over court staff, Woods said “I’m literally listening to you”.
She was fined £299 and ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £117 and court costs of £86.
