Woman opens second Slimming World group in Fincham after success of group in Wiggenhall St Germans
A woman has opened a second Slimming World group following the soaring success of the opening of the first clinic.
Mikayla Coote started running the Slimming World group in Wiggenhall St Germans at the beginning of 2022 after losing over nine stone.
Since opening the group, she’s helped many people lose weight and decided to start a second group in Fincham.
Mikayla said: “I started the group in January after losing over nine stone myself and it’s been so successful in helping members in our community lose weight that I’ve now taken on a second group!”
So far, she’s helped 48 people reach their weight-loss goals and the group at St Germans has lost a combined total of 338 stone between them in 46 weeks.
Her second group meets at Fincham Memorial Village Hall every Wednesday at 5.30pm.
She felt inspired after meeting her idol and founder of Slimming World, Margaret Miles-Bramwell OBE.
Mikayla said: “For many of us, the last couple of years have taken their toll on our waistlines, but I’m more determined than ever to help those in the local community find out just how easy it is to eat home cooked family favourites like lasagne, chicken and chips, and even a curry and lose weight!
“The local group is offering support and friendship as well as a generous eating plan to help you lose weight naturally without having to go without!”
Mikaylas top five tips to lose weight are:
1. Set a goal:
"Research shows that if you set yourself a goal, you’re more likely to achieve it – and the more ambitious the better," said Mikayla.
2. Step into action:
She added: "Make the most of your days and the cooler weather and head out for some fresh-air fitness."
3. Get creative in the Kitchen:
"Discover your inner Jamie and cook meals from scratch with healthy seasonal ingredients like asparagus, spring greens and new potatoes, or
dig out the slow cooker and get stewing lean meat, fish, and veg. And remember, losing weight doesn’t have to mean going hungry."
4. Spritz up!:
Mikayla said: "There’s nothing nicer than enjoying a drink with friends, especially over the festive season, yet alcohol can be a real obstacle if you’re trying to lose weight.
"As well as the calories in alcohol, which are often higher than we realise, one large glass of wine has as many calories as a jam
doughnut!"
5. Blitz your habits:
Finally, Mikayla said: "We’re all creatures of habit and having a routine can be a lifesaver when you’re busy – you’re more likely to exercise regularly if you do it at the same time every week and having a set day for batch cooking can really help you plan for the week ahead."
