King’s Lynn tractor driver arrested after woman from Littleport dies in A10 crash
A tractor driver from Lynn has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by careless driving after a woman died in a three-vehicle crash on the A10 yesterday.
The woman passed away following the collision on the road between Downham and Littleport on Tuesday afternoon, which was originally reported to have occurred close to Southery.
Cambridgeshire Police received reports of the crash, which was between a Ford Focus and two tractors, at around 2.50pm.
Officers and paramedics attended, but the driver of the car – a 68-year-old woman from Littleport – was pronounced dead at the scene.
Nobody else was injured in the crash, although a large stretch of the A10 remained closed for hours after the incident.
One of the tractor drivers, a 40-year-old man from Lynn, was arrested on suspicion of causing death by careless driving and has since been released on bail.
Detective Sergeant Craig Wheeler, from Cambridgeshire Police, said: “A woman has tragically lost her life in this collision and my thoughts are with her family and friends at this very difficult time.
“I am appealing to anyone who may have seen the collision, or any of the vehicles prior to it, to please get in touch.”
Officers have now urged anybody with information or dashcam footage of the incident to report it through the force’s website using reference CC-28112023-0235.
