Sally Blundell who died at Swaffham's East of England Co-op Funeral Services will be ‘truly missed’, colleagues say
An undertaker who died in a “tragic accident” at a funeral parlour in Swaffham will be “truly missed”, her colleagues have said.
Sally Blundell, 58, was crushed to death at the East of England Co-op Funeral Services branch in the town on Friday, December 1.
An inquest into her death was opened at Norfolk Coroner's Court last week, when her provisional cause of death was given as contusion and compression of the chest, caused by an external object.
Mrs Blundell, who lived in Great Cressingham, had been a funeral administrator for the East of England Co-op Funeral Services.
A spokesperson for the company said: “We are deeply saddened by the death of our colleague and friend Sally Blundell.
“Sally worked for our co-op for over eight years and her care and experience will be truly missed by those in and around Swaffham as well as her colleagues.
“First and foremost in our mind are Sally’s family and friends. We offer them our deepest condolences and ask that their privacy is respected at this time.
“The circumstances relating to this tragic accident are being investigated, and whilst this process is ongoing we are unable to comment further.”
The inquest was adjourned, with a review date set for April 5.
