Grimston woman Tina Carmen smashed ex-husband’s car windscreens and assaulted daughter’s boyfriend
A 55-year-old full of “pent-up frustration” smashed her ex-husband’s car windows and assaulted her daughter’s boyfriend.
Tina Carmen, of Grimston, appeared at Lynn Magistrates’ Court on Thursday, where she admitted causing criminal damage to her former partner’s Vauxhall Astra.
She also pleaded guilty to assaulting her daughter’s boyfriend, although on a reckless basis and not deliberately.
The court heard that on the afternoon of June 26, Carmen had driven to her ex’s home in order to pick up two pets.
When she was denied entry, she walked to the side of the property and pulled the wiring from a CCTV camera located there.
While doing so, a fragment she threw aside made contact with her daughter’s boyfriend - leading to the assault charge.
Carmen then proceeded to pick up a pipe and use it to smash both the front and back windscreens of her ex-husband’s car.
The police were contacted, and she was arrested in the early hours of the following day.
Mitigating, solicitor Alison Muir said that Carmen’s marriage was “not always the best relationship”.
“She is now living in a caravan on a space of bare land,” she said.
Carmen had attended the address in order to collect two pet dogs, Ms Muir said, before things got “a bit heated”.
She said Carmen used the pole to damage the car after being “goaded” into doing so by her daughter’s boyfriend.
“She admits she did that deliberately, albeit in the heat of the moment and with a lot of pent-up frustration,” the solicitor added.
She also argued that Carmen was “effectively of good character” as her most recent criminal conviction was back in 2006.
Magistrates ordered Carmen to pay £115 in compensation to her ex-husband to repair the damaged car.
She was handed a 12-month conditional discharge for the assault, and will pay a combined £181 in court costs.
Despite an application for a restraining order against the victims, the court did not impose one.
