Downham Market Halloween décor mistaken for crime scene

Concerned residents were curious to find out what had happened at an address on Broomhill road, Downham, as they saw blue crime scene tape wrapped around the house and fence in recent days.

An eyewitness said: "There's been tape out there for days now and no one knows what's going on."

Another said they saw a "police helicopter" flying above the property.

The police, unable to find anything on record, informed the Lynn News that the tape was in fact Halloween decorations.

The surprised owner of the house had no idea others had been trying to find out if her home was the scene of a grisly crime.

Emily Clifton, who lives at the address with her two children Freddie and Harper, purchased the crime scene tape from a shop.

She said: “A neighbour actually said to me when they walked past they had to double check it wasn’t real but I thought the fake skeleton in the front lawn would have been a give-away!"

“It’s a bit of fun for the kids, it's nice to be able to decorate as we haven't really had a proper Halloween for two years.”

Twins Freddie and Harper will be dressing up as matching skeletons for Halloween, and seemed to love the decorations in front of the house, which included several large pumpkins.
