Blackborough End alcoholic Paul Sainty bit partner’s ear during fight
The violent actions of a 38-year-old forced a woman to run to her neighbour’s house for protection.
Paul Sainty, of East Winch Road in Blackborough End, had returned home from the pub and became involved in an argument with his partner about his drinking habits on April 30.
Sainty began swearing at the victim before biting her ear.
She tried to get away from Sainty, but he pushed her over.
When she tried to get up, Sainty got hold of the back of her T-shirt in an attempt to stop her fleeing the scene.
The victim eventually managed to escape and ran to a neighbour’s house.
Sainty was outside the property shouting, with the neighbour confronting him.
He grabbed the elderly man’s wrist and said: “What are you going to do about this? I will f*****g kill you.”
In a victim impact statement read out at Lynn Magistrates’ Court on Thursday, the neighbour said the incident has left him with anxiety.
Sainty was sentenced for two counts of assault, which he previously pleaded guilty to.
Magistrates handed him a 16-week prison sentence, suspended for 12 months.
He will also complete ten rehabilitation activity days, and will wear an alcohol monitoring tag for 120 days.
In mitigation, Tiffany Meredith told the court that Sainty denied threatening to kill the neighbour, but accepts everything else he said.
“He is thoroughly ashamed that he put the person he loves in this position,” Ms Meredith said, referring to Sainty’s partner.
The solicitor explained that Sainty has admitted to himself that he is an alcoholic, and has decided to stop drinking entirely.
“Making the choice to remove it (alcohol) from his life completely is a huge step in itself,” Ms Meredith said.
