Wonky yellow lines in Old Hunstanton will be repainted

Wonky yellow lines in a village will be repainted after a “very poor job” from council contractors.

The double yellow lines in Old Hunstanton have been ridiculed by residents, with the paintwork touching at some points and avoiding patches of dirt at others.

They are located along Sea Lane and Waterworks Road.

Caroline Boyden, the clerk for Old Hunstanton Parish Council, told the Lynn News that Norfolk County Council has agreed to have them replaced in the near future.

“They confirmed last Thursday that the lines will be redone as a matter of urgency,” she said.

The county council has ordered the repainting already, which will not come at any further cost to the taxpayer.

A spokesperson said: “Unfortunately the double yellow lines at Old Hunstanton have not been installed to Norfolk County Council’s specification or standards.

“Accordingly, we have requested the contractor to undertake remedial works as a matter of urgency.

“Some of these works have already taken place but others will be carried out over the coming weeks once the surface has been prepared. All remedial works will be completed at no cost to Norfolk County Council.”

Lynn News reader Anna Pugh joked: “This is what happens when council highways workers start at 11pm.”
