Work progressing on new Gayton primary school site

Officials from a West Norfolk village school have been given a taste of their future this week.

A multi-million pound home for the Gayton CE Primary Academy is set to open this autumn, seven years after plans to move it from its present Lynn Road home were first outlined.

And staff and governors were given the chance to look around the new site off Springvale on Wednesday.

Building work began last year on the multi-million pound project to provide capacity for 210 school pupils and more than 50 nursery places.

Proposals to develop the West Hall Farm site were approved by county councillors in February 2020, after an initial scheme to build on land at the corner of Back Street and Winch Road was scrapped over flood risk concerns.

The current school site has used a number of temporary buildings since it became a through primary school in 2011.
