Traffic lights to be replaced at a crossing near a Hunstanton school

Work to replace traffic lights at a pedestrian crossing near a West Norfolk school is due to start this month.

The work, costing £30,000, on King’s Lynn Road adjacent to Smithdon High School in Hunstanton, is to start on February 17 over four days, weather permitting.

Norfolk County Council has said it is part of a countywide traffic light replacement programme which involves updating traffic lights where necessary to ensure that they continue to meet current standards and work reliably and efficiently.

“A temporary crossing will be in place while the existing lights are off for replacement. The work will involve the removal and replacement of the traffic lights with new equipment, including underground ducting and cabling,” the council has said.

The work will be carried out by the county council’s infrastructure department and its contractors.
