Clenchwarton Primary School youngsters enjoy Christmas lunch while raising funds for Save the Children
There was a festive flavour to lunch at a West Norfolk school when youngsters enjoyed a tasty Christmas meal while raising money for a good cause.
All ages from Reception to Year 6 at Clenchwarton Primary School sat down on Friday last week to a feast of roast chicken, stuffing, sausages, peas, carrots and gravy, accompanied by squash and Christmas cookies.
The festivities were about more than celebrating the season, with pupils and staff at the school – which is a member of the West Norfolk Academies Trust – sporting themed knitwear in aid of Save the Children’s annual Christmas Jumper Day appeal.
This launched in 2012 and has since raised more than £35million for the charity.
“The whole school took part in Christmas Lunch,” Charlotte Howells, assistant head teacher at the Clenchwarton school, said.
“The tables were decorated with table cloths, and each child was given a Christmas cracker and was wearing their antlers as well.
“It was Christmas Jumper Day, so the children and staff were all dressed in Christmas jumpers. The children loved the festive dinner and singing to Christmas songs in the background.”
