Have your say

There are many people who are critical of the Labour Party and trade unions, two things that I believe passionately in. I think it’s very easy for us all to forget all the good things that the both have done.

Employment and public sector jobs have been created by Labour Party policies. Labour policies created Sure Start Children’s Centres, they funded them and, more importantly, believed that they were one of the ways in which childhood poverty could be eradicated.

Labour policies helped to create the NHS, the health service that ordinary people have to rely on. It was Labour policies that saw council houses built and even though they were sold off under a Conservative regime, people are still benefiting from them.

Trade unions helped to establish the Labour Party and in return Labour policies contributed towards and strengthened trade union recognition and employment rights, things that so many of us have benefited from having when we’re in need in the work place.

While there are faults with both organisations I believe that the positive things which they have done, achieved, established, set up, supported and put into motion by far out way the negative.

The policies that this Government are implementing will see these things we all rely on dismantled and taken away from those who use it. I will always believe that the Labour Party and Trade Unions are a force for good and I will do all I can to continue to remind readers why.
