There is an election brewing and predictably the Tories have declared war (again!) on the BBC. Blaming the messenger not the message.

And so locally cages are rattled as scrutiny of our sitting tenant at Westminster increases. Not sure if it means much but as the Lynn News of December 5 shows Jo Rust’s supporters clearly outnumber Henry Bellingham’s. I am sure Jo’s a realist and aware that this is unlikely to be reflected come election night.

Amongst the knock-about the anti-Rust letter from Roger Swinburne attacking the Lynn News is decidedly odd. He ends with a plea to stop “this excellent paper looking any more like a 1970’s Fiat”. I missed out on Eton and my Latin is somewhat limited. However, the following sprang immediately to mind. “Fiat justitia ruat caelum.” Let justice be done though the heavens fall.
