Much as I agree with him, I feel John Maiden’s piece on the Hopkins Homes development regarding local wildlife is a distraction from the main argument.
The matter was fully reported in the Lynn News and shows that our town council completely ignored the views of the majority of residents, in that they failed to post a single objection to the whole dreadful scheme on two occasions.
The minutes of the relevant meetings are, to say the least, sparse and give no indication as to the councillors’ reasons.
You may well ask, what was the motivation of these people elected to represent us, the community? I do not know and cannot imagine. A few so-called “affordable” houses are promised, but nothing to offset the added pressure on the local infrastructure or services, not to say the desecration of another piece of lovely local landscape.
Yet another good aspect of our lives here has been sacrificed – not for the benefit of the community, but to enrich a private landowner and a developer. Now they’ve got away with it once, no doubt they will try again – and again.
