Having recovered from a two-month computer malady by purchase of a new machine, I am again able to access the national news without the necessity of reliance on the stuff peddled by the mainstream media. Not much has changed since my last visit to the enlightening portal of social media that saves us from complacent naivety.
Surprisingly, though, the watchword of this Christmas moment appears to have topped both media charts simultaneously, and it is that of “Christian Values”, as piously uttered by our Prime Minister, Mr Dave Cameron. Dave, it would be lovely to be a citizen of a country which held all the laudable values that you claim, religious or otherwise, but I fear that until we prove our professed love of justice, through long overdue progress, even commencement, of the inquiry into Establishment child abuse or worse, and arrest and prosecution of the fraudsters in the banking and financial sectors who caused the crash and subsequent austerity suffered by an innocent public, we shall remain some way short of the standard required to substantiate your proud rhetoric.
