Have your say

The reaction to Mr Cameron’s “swarm” comments was predictable.

Nazi propaganda regularly portrayed Jews as “swarms” accompanied by newsreel images of rats in sewers. Language is important and politicians should be aware that such terms as “swarms” dehumanise people, or maybe that is the point.

The situation in Calais is desperate and quite clearly counties like Kent cannot possibly cope with this overload. And, of course, the bottom line is the fact that we are dealing with unregulated and illegal immigration.

It is reasonable to expect that our laws are enforced. The response from tabloids and our PM’s pejorative language are however unhelpful.
