I would like to thank the West Norfolk chiefs for banning balloon and sky lantern releases on “their lands”.
It is to be hoped that this ban can be extended nationwide.
These items are not only dangerous to sealife, but to cattle who ingest the metal support rings of the lanterns and wildlife who ingest or get trapped by material from deflated balloons.
I really do exhort all of us to stop using these items, for just a fleeting moment of pleasure, that has every likelihood of killing or maiming an innocent animal. Please think before you launch.
