I see from Friday’s paper that the borough council in intends to reinstate the need to enter the car registration number into the parking machine when paying for a ticket. Why?
When you pay for a ticket, you hire the car park slot for the duration of the ticket, so effectively that slot is sold until the ticket is expired.
When the weather is inclement and you have shopping/business to do in town the last thing you want to be doing is to be fumbling around pressing buttons other than the green one to print the ticket.
I’m now of an age where I don’t need glasses to drive, but to read those teeny letters and numbers I do, so that means even more fumbling to get my glasses out of the case, input the necessary and replace them in case and pocket. All the time getting cold and wet.
It would have been more logical to have saved money on the machines and installed pay on exit barriers instead.
