With regard to the letter about Edward Benefer Way (Lynn News, October 11) the lady has highlighted a very constructive point about the new traffic light area and the dual carriageway.
Before that was constructed Edward Benefer Way was always a race track and the speed signs mean nothing to inconsiderate drivers. This also applies to other areas in the town such as Wootton Road in both directions from the Deers Leap to town. There was a promise of a speed camera being installed on Wootton Road earlier this year but that seems to have evaporated. To be honest it is not the roads that are at fault it is the inconsiderate drivers on them. I have held three licences in my life from an armoured track vehicle driven across Germany, HGV across the UK and B Vehicle licence which took me to South America, Belize, Jamaica, Bermuda, Cyprus, Malta, Gibraltar, Kenya, across Europe, and that was over a 43-year period. I have not got one black mark on any of those licences. Speed kills, drink-driving kills, driving under the influence of drugs kills, but this common knowledge falls on deaf ears, as the police can confirm. The good drivers can complain but to no prevail.
