Have your say

I agree with Dick Melton (Letters, June 5) with regards to swimming pools in Hunstanton, or the lack of them.

And now the Smithdon school one is closing, which over the years has probably seen hundreds learn how to swim, which is vital if you live in a coastal area. The town councillors should take more notice of local people and their views, ideas and concerns, not what they always think is right, or be pressured by the outside interest of other people. A classic example is the revamped Spinney. It was a total waste of money, a complete white elephant. I don’t think the people of Hunstanton wanted it. It has done nothing for them or Hunstanton, but it still went ahead. At £300,000 it must be the most expensive rain shelter in the world. The £300,000 could have built a wonderful swimming pool for everyone and would have been in regular use. The revamped Spinney was a vanity project wanted by certain people. The powers that be should get their priorities in order.
