So Hopkins Homes has been granted permission to build 166 homes at Heacham Road, Hunstanton, two to four bedrooms.
I cannot see the local people being able to afford them, certainly not the young. With the poor wages paid in the area, affordable homes to rent is what’s needed before one home is built. Infrastructure must be in place – schools, doctors, roads and transport. Where are the jobs?
But none of this must get in the way of property developers making their big profits. The same people who gave permission for these 166 homes to be built, West Norfolk Council, also gave permission for new retirement homes to be built in Hunstanton. We have one doctors’ surgery which is stretched to capacity. Where are people going to go for healthcare? The revamped Spinney was a £400,000 waste of money. It does nothing for the people of Hunstanton. It would be nice if the people of the town were listened to. Perhaps they should be more vocal. It’s obvious their opinions or concerns count for nothing.
