King's Lynn hosts huge weekend of stock car racing at Adrian Flux Arena

A big weekend of stock car and banger action takes place at King's Lynn this weekend.

Tomorrow sees the two-litre stock car European Championship, 1300 stock cars and “Old Skool” national bangers taking centre stage (5pm).

A busy two days sees the two-litre national banger World Final together with the two-litre and 1300 stock cars in action on Sunday (1pm).

Chasing success in the European Championship will be Lee and Jamie Sampson who, along with Jake Banwell, are all booked in for action.

Of the trio Lee is the one most likely to win the biggest two-litre stock car race of the season at Lynn, although a downgrading for Jake Banwell will give him a confidence boost and he could well qualify for a good grid position in the heats.

Diggy Smith defends the title he won last year at Taunton.

The Old Skool banger meeting was a huge success last year and is a snapshot to what national bangers were like 20 years ago as drivers take to the track in Bluebirds, Cavaliers, Primeras and Carinas.

West Norfolk drivers in action will include Russell and Callum Gill, Davey Cox, Kieran Bowman, Robert Betts, Paul Lovick and Alan Jackson.

Kieran Bowman is set for a busy weekend as he is also in the two-litre banger World Final on Sunday.

Also qualifying for the big race are Robert Betts, Wes Freestone and Ross Cooper.

Stephen Walden will be in action in the 1300 stock cars.

Willie Skoyles had another disappointing night in the F1 stock cars last weekend.

Once again he showed great pace but if anyone was going to spin or get into trouble you could guarantee it would happen in front of Willie as he failed to pick up any top ten places and picked up a lot of damage.

Hopefully a downgrading to yellow will spark an upturn in fortunes for him over the next few months.

Tom Harris signalled his intentions for the World Final at Lynn in September with a dominant display which saw him win both his heat and final.

Scott Aldridge qualified for the final well in the F2 stock cars with a third-place finish in his heat, whilst Sam Claxton and Rob Aldridge also qualified for the final through the consolation.

Aldridge was the best local finisher in 11th in the final, which was won by Andrew Palmer, while Downham’s Jason Cooper missed out on qualification after an incident in his heat which saw him roll over onto his roof.

On Monday, Heacham’s Lewis Godfrey had a fantastic afternoon in the Big Vans with two top-five finishes before going on to put on a destructive crowd pleasing show in the Final and Destruction Derby which earned him an entertainer award.

Callum Gill was dominant in the micro bangers as he took a hat trick of victories, including the final.

Kieran Bowman looked a likely winner of the final as he led for a while until eventually coming home in third place to back up a heat runner-up finish, whilst Josh and Ben Green were also heavily involved in the action.

Stephen Walden had some good results in the 1300 stock cars, including a fifth place in his heat, with London’s Lee Pearce winning the final.
