Hill family in gear at new BMX facility built for Euro Championships

The Hill family from Lynn travelled to Knightswood, Glasgow, a new BMX facility built for the Elite European Championships in August 2018.

The track was very technical and demanding and with little chance for practice.

Despite a car breakdown just an hour from Glasgow, with the help of friends the Hills were still able to compete.

On day one the wet weather did not dampen Jared’s spirits who seemed to find his form in the 10’s by sailing through to the semis where he was blocked but battled to fourth on the finish line to take a spot in the final where he finished fourth too. On Sunday he rode even better, winning Motos and his quarter. He was leading the semi until just before the finish line when a jump caught him out and sent him over the bars leaving him out of the final and in some pain.

Kyle just missed out on the semis in 15’s by one point; despite a couple of solid laps it was a tough class. He made up for it in 15/16 cruiser by taking third in the final.

Day two saw him with another solid third in the final in 15/16’s.

Alan Hill in the vets final had to settle for second. He won 45+ cruiser. Day two and he took another win in the cruiser but he wasn’t about to let another vets win get away from him and he led the race to the finish line.

The Hills will be travelling to the south of France shortly to compete in the European Championships.
