West Norfolk Rugby Club appoint new head coach
Promoted West Norfolk Rugby Club have appointed a new head coach for the new season.
Aaron Beaumont has joined the club for the 2021/2022 campaign and will work alongside director of rugby Darren Clarke and other club coaches at Gatehouse Lane.
The North Wootton-based club were promoted to the London NE 2 League following a very successful league and cup run at the premature end of the 2019/2020 season.
Beaumont arrives having held positions at North Walsham, Oundle School, Northampton Saints Developing Player Programme (DPP).
More recently, Beaumont was at Thetford RFC where his opportunity to lead the ambitions of the club were curtailed by the coronavirus pandemic.
He is currently regarded as one of the best qualified and youngest head coaches in the region at coaching level 2.
Beaumont hopes to attain his level 3 coaching qualification whilst working with West Norfolk’s league campaign in London NE 2, which starts later this month.
On his appointment, Beaumont said: “As a guest coach I have already starting working with a very talented squad of players at West during pre-season training.
“I see some excellent potential for this group of players to continue where they left off in 2019 having reached the national semi-finals of the RFU Senior Vase.”
“Training has been really positive with good numbers of players joining and people still to come back.
“The players have committed to learning the new style of play and improving their all-round game and skills.
“The players and coaching team are looking forward to the season ahead playing new teams in a higher league which will create different challenges which we are all ready to get stuck into.”
On Beaumont’s arrival, club chairman Graham Woodcock said: “I see a great opportunity here for Aaron to help us realise the full potential of our squads and ambitions in the league next season.
“At just 26, he has already developed a strong track record as a player and coach and we are looking forward to helping him to help us achieve his coaching goals.”

The club start their 2021/2022 season with a pre-season fixture against Wisbech RFC on September 11 at Wisbech where both the club’s 1st XV and development squads have fixtures.
Pre-season training is already underway at West Norfolk but there are still opportunities for new players to join.
