West Norfolk competitors faced with snow, sleet and heavy rain
Lynn Cycling Club’s Wednesday time trial season started in appalling conditions when 14 riders faced, snow, sleet and heavy rain over the 10 mile route.
Starting at Tottenhill, competitors made their way through to Downham and Stradsett before returning to Wormegay to the finish line.
The results were: P. Barber 34.44, N. Brown 28.57, J. Sutton 28.43, J. Sparrow 23.10, S. Hardy 29.59 (on mtb), A. Marshall, E. Marshall 35.06 (2-up), T. Marshall 28.20, I. Kidman 23.11 and Tye Rugg 33.40.
The club’s first 25-mile open time trial was held at Fincham and organised by race director Simon Hardy.
The route headed out to Stradsett, Stoke Ferry onto the Mundford roundabout, before returning home along the same route.
It proved a hard, undulating sporting course and the headwind and cold made it difficult for the 36 riders.
Team Velovelocity won the team event.
The club’s riders were: T. Marshall, N. Brown 1.10.29 (2-up), J, Gyton 1.01.54, P, Johnson 1.31.13.
The overall winner was Lloyd Chapman (Plomgate CC) in 53.59 with Chanel Mason (Storey Racing) being the first female home in 1.01.52.
Three riders took part in a new TT distance of 15 miles, which was arranged by Wisbech Wheelers CC.
It’s an unusual distance so was difficult to ride as there was a strong headwind which helped on the return route.
Results: S. Hardy 37.58, P. Johnson 49.59, J. Sparrow 34.22.
If there are any cyclists wishing to try riding a TT, the club meets every Wednesday evening at Tottenhill Village Hall from 5.45pm where the first ride will be free of charge.
Competitors need to have a road worthy bike, wear a helmet and must have a working intensive rear light.
