West Norfolk athletes recognised for their outstanding achievements in 2024
West Norfolk Athletic Club hosted its annual awards evening, as well as the club AGM, on Friday night.
This was a chance for the roles of the club committee to be secured and a celebration of the achievements of athletes and club members.
Chris Ely was also awarded the role of vice president for long-standing service to the club, dedication and everything he has done for the club that spans decades.
Ely was presented with gifts on the night as a token of the club's appreciation and has also been nominated for coach of the year this year at the Eastern England Athletics Awards.
Other award winners on the night are as follows: U11 boy James Watts; U11 girl Sofia Gilboy; U13 boy Luke Anderson; U13 girl Elly Jackson; U15 boy Ethan Ward; U15 girl Rebecca Johnson; U17 boy Alfie Bone; U17 girl Evie Clayton; U20 boy Thomas O’Neill; U20 girl Lily Frammingham; IPC female athlete: Susi Rogers Hartley; IPC male athlete: Cameron Ross.
Sportshall male award: Matas Petreikis for outstanding performance combined with sportsmanship; Sportshall female award: Jessica and Lauren Lawrence for amazing attitudes and overcoming difficulty.
John Bray awards: (U11) Jessica Watts for her attitude to sport and others whilst showcasing great enthusiasm; (Over 11) Anya Faithorn for perseverance and strength over adversity as well as talent; Christine Moss Memorial Trophy (Shouldham for U15): Evie Clayton, for hard work and overall series win, with encouragement towards others also; Track Performance: Rebecca Johnson ranked third in the UK for 60m hurdles, with 9.08; Field performance: Isla Jackson, 9.51 triple jump, level 8 PB standard, top athlete in Norfolk and Cambs.
