West Norfolk drivers out of luck in BriSCA stock cars at King’s Lynn’s Adrian Flux Arena
There was a tremendous double helping of BriSCA stock car action at Lynn last weekend when both the F1 and F2 stock cars were in action.
There were several West Norfolk drivers, who had plenty of bad luck stories throughout the evening, in action in the F2 stock cars. The tone was set on the first lap of the first heat when Ryan Leeks rolled his superb-looking brand-new car.
Leeks did come out wingless later in the evening but the car didn’t handle as well as it should do and he didn’t get in the results for the rest of the night.
Stow Bridge’s Marcus Gilbert is from a family with a long stock car heritage and he was looking to put on a great display in front of his family and friends who were out in force.
It was the night his grandparents Garry and Margaret Gilbert celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary.
Gilbert is quick around Lynn and was a race winner at the season opener last month but he was out of luck last Saturday.
After retiring in the first few laps, he did manage to qualify for the final with a sixth-place finish in the consolation which was a good drive after dropping to 23rd spot after being involved in a crash in the early stages.
Although he recovered well, luck deserted him again in the final when he retired on the seventh lap whilst lying in fourth place.
Rothwell’s Ryan Harrison was unbeatable throughout the night in the F1 stock cars as he won the heat, final and Grand National with his latter victory being imposing with him having to start from a lap handicap.
This is the first time any driver has scored an F1 stock car maximum since the formula first appeared at Saddlebow Road in 1955 and over the 188 F1 meetings staged there.
There is no racing at the Adrian Flux Arena this weekend with racing returning on Sunday, April 21 (1pm) when racing will come from the 2L stock cars, 1300 stock cars, 1600cc bangers and junior bangers.
