Bowlers take centre stage in Norfolk Cricket League
The heatwave finally ran out of steam, and following the storms of Friday evening, it was mainly the bowlers who took centre stage in the Norfolk Cricket League.
St Andrews consolidated their position at the top as Syed Hussain (4-20) and Imran Mohammed (4-38) whipped out Castle Rising for 129, the hosts winning by seven wickets.
Oliver Reynolds cracked an unbeaten 68 as Narborough lost one wicket overhauling Southwold’s 101.
Earlier, Narborough's Charlie Steeles and Mark Hammond helped themselves to three wickets each while Oliver Reynolds claimed two scalps in a tidy spell (9.3-4-13-2) with the ball.
In Two West, Aslam Mohammed took 5-23 on his return to Great Melton B, but Adrian Seymour’s 4-1 ensured the win for Gooderstone.
Gooderstone reached their target with four wickets to spare thanks to knocks from Stephen Carter (25), Tont Wright (28 not out) and Matthew Ward (23 not out).
Andy Walder hit 72 and Dave Lambourne 42 in Sandringham’s victory over East Harling.
In the field, Sandringham were indebted to Adrian Nicol who picked up 4 for 44.
Saham Toney A conceded to Castle Acre.
In Three West, Castle Rising crashed to an 77-run defeat an the hands of Beetley after being dismissed for 82 when chasing 160 for victory.
Beetley were stopped in their tracks with the bat by Paul Davies (3-31).
Henry Martin (4-37) was in fine form with the ball for Hockwold but it couldn't prevent them suffering a 54-run defeat against Swanton Morley.
Snettisham As game against Dersingham was called off.
Boughton and Heacham continue to lead the way in Four West, both recording easy victories.
Adam North (71) and George Van Aalst (56) saw Bircham A to victory over Gooderstone A, Kevin Bandy hitting 60 in reply.
A dismal display with the bat saw Denver 2nds dismissed for 57 against Boughton while Heacham bowlers Duncan Rix (4-14), Ben Hutchinson (3-19) and Matthew Blake (2-13) did the damage during a resounding ten-wicket win over Narborough 2nds.
