Dersingham and Sandringham record big victory over Denver in Norfolk Cricket League
Solid top-order batting set the platform for Dersingham and Sandringham 3rds to record a big victory over Denver A in the Norfolk Cricket League on Saturday.
Ollie Southgate (55), William Pennington (40) and Ben Southgate (63) were all among the runs in the Division Three West clash as the visitors posted a commanding score of 263/8 at Denver playing field.
Giles Lewis (2-17) and Luke Fenn (2-12) were the only home bowlers to emerge with any credit as Denver A were made to toil with the ball.
In reply, Denver struggled to get a grip of their victory target as Neil Pickering (4-15), Samuel Askew (2-16), Mark Pickering (2-14) and Paul Davies (2-16) shared the home wickets between them.
Ben Watts (18) and some late resistance from Hamish Straffon-Lawrence (10) and Max Merritt (10) delayed the inevitable as the home side were dismissed for a paltry 69.
In the same division, Bircham 2nds slipped to a six-wicket defeat against North Elmham to leave them in the bottom three of the league standings.
Elsewhere, in Division One West league leaders Castle Acre lost their unbeaten record at Reepham and Salle, Dan Long-Martinez (70) and James Hardy (5-29) ensuring victory for the host outfit.
A half-century from Chris Burgess (51) saw Thornham to victory against Sandringham A while Snettisham A collected their first win of the campaign with a five-wicket success at the expense of Wensum.
The latest results see the trio of Castle Rising, Snettisham A and Sandringham A prop up the table.
In Division Two West, Swaffham 2nds good start to the season came to an end at the hands of Reepham and Salle A, who amassed a huge 250/5 from their 45 overs before bowling Swaffham out for just 82 in reply.
Over In Division 4W, there were centuries for Ed Landyman (101 not out) and Ash Corbett (110 not out) as Downham Stow C won easily against Mundford 2nds after posting a huge score of 314/3, while Adam Young cracked an unbeaten 118 for Narborough A in a comprehensive 98-run victory over Melton 4ths.
