Castle Acre clinch runners-up spot in Norfolk League




Both Narborough and Castle Rising suffered defeats against Caister and Overstrand respectively in the final round of matches in Division One of the Norfolk Cricket League.

Castle Acre clinched the runners-up spot in Two West after winning at Sandringham A, while Gooderstone were beaten by Great Ellingham.

Thornham beat Beetley in a promotion showdown to seal the best runners-up slot from Three West, Kevin Williamson starring with 50 and 4-8.

Matt Footman’s 4-31 helped Castle Rising A to victory against Hockwold A and Snettisham A recorded a seven-wicket success over their counterparts from Swaffham.

Dersingham ended the campaign with a 98-run defeat at the hands of North Elmham.

In Four West, Boughton overwhelmed Thornham A, for whom Jim Clarke scored 67.

Denver also won thanks to Daniel Clifton’s 52 and Harvey Wardle’s 54 against Bircham A.

The Norfolk Cricket League’s post-season captains’ meeting will be held at Drayton Bowls Club on Thursday, September, 13, starting at 7pm.

The showpiece annual awards dinner will be held at the Hotel Mercure in Norwich on Friday, October 19, starting at 7pm.
