North Runcton inspired by Christoffells masterclass
North Runcton produced their best all round performance of the season by beating a very strong Cromer side by 25 runs in the Norfolk Alliance Premier Division.
After winning the toss, man-of-the-match Kirwin Christoffells produced a stylish display of masterful batting full of deft touches as he raced along to 126 runs in just 112 balls with 12 fours and a six.
Christoffells was the third North Runcton wicket to fall at 253-3 in the 45th over.
He was ably assisted by Michael Crisp in an opening partnership of 169 with Crisp recording his second half-century of the season, making 59 with five boundaries and a maximum off 120 balls.
Sam Phillips made a near-run-a-ball 17 before he was bowled by Charlie Adams.
Jhedli Van Briesies was also in excellent touch with 34 off 31 balls before he was the first wicket for veteran Paul Bradshaw, 2-44 off 10 overs.
He also accounted for Ben Coote eight, George Rawlings fell to Rob Purton in the final flurry leaving the two Skipper brothers for a last-ball single to take the Runcton total to 278-6.
Sadhu Ndlela 0-40 from five, Cameron Graveling 0-41 off 10, Adams 1-46 from seven, Purton 1-46 off seven and Mgcin Ndlela 2-55 off 10 made up the remaining Cromer bowlers.
In reply, Coote clean-bowled Tom Davies with the first ball of the innings and with the score at 23, before Christoffels caught-and-bowled Nat Laws for four to leave the visitors in trouble.
However, David Turner and Sakhu Ndlela steadied the ship and took the score to 77 off 18 when the latter was removed by the impressive Sam Phillips, Coote assisting with an easy catch.
Turner and the quick scoring and elegant Muzi Ndlela (36 in 30) took the score along to 126-4 and looked in control until Ndlela was bowled with a jaffa from Michael Annakin.
Paul Bradshaw added 41 in 45 balls before he was bowled by Ben Skipper in undoubtedly his finest, straightest spell this season.
He later went on to bowl Adams and finished with 2-32 off eight in a spell that helped seal the victory for the hosts.
Ben Coote bowled Purton and had Warnes caught by Van Briesies to finish with figures of 3-54 off 10, Phillips 1-38 from nine, Annakin 1-47 off seven, Will Lankfer 0-49 from six, and who else but Christoffels 1-24 off 10.
Cromer number three David Turner battled throughout for the visitors' innings and fell just three short of a century with 97 not out from 136 balls with 10 fours and a six.
