St Clements High School Terrington student hoping for Euro spot

Teenager Chantel Lyon from Clenchwarton won a British figure roller skating title with a broken wrist.

The 15 year-old broke her wrist in training the day after coming fourth in the dance element of the championships (there are three elements: dance, figures and free).

However, with her hand still in plaster, three weeks later Chantel managed to win the Cadet British Championships in figures last weekend.

She has already won the figures and free titles five times.

Chantel, a student at the St Clements High School in Terrington, will hopefully be going to the European Championships in Portugal in September.

To meet the selection process, candidates need to be in the top five.

The teenager is waiting to hear if she has made the final pick.

This is the final year in which the Ely skating club member will be in the Cadet class.

She also went to Germany, representing Great Britain in figures back in May, and took part in the German Cup.
