Matt Taylor and Robert Wilson star for Castle Rising versus Norfolk Cricket League rivals Narborough





NORFOLK CRICKET LEAGUE ROUND-UP – JULY 6

Fourth-place Castle Rising are bidding to become top West Norfolk side following their 74-run Division One success over fifth-spot Narborough.

Matt Taylor (58) and Robert Wilson (80) ensured victory for Rising, who set 273-5, over Narborough, while Kirkley & Belton finally got over the winning line, beating Southwold.

Taylor also starred with the ball, he and Guarav Aravind both bagging three wickets. Jordan Grass (47) top-scored for Narborough, while Oliver Reynolds took 2-47.

Aylsham St Giles got back to winning ways, beating outgoing champions St Andrews, who are in real danger of becoming the first champions to be relegated defending their title.

Billy Yarham (57), Mark Spillett (62) and David Yarham (51*) starred for Overstrand in their victory at Castle Acre, which lifts them to third, Nick Whales grabbing 51 for the hosts.

Hingham head Division 2 West ahead of Gooderstone as both teams won.

Gooderstone skittled Beeston for 85, Adrian Seymour bagging 3-17 and Mark Chalkley 3-7 to win by six wickets.

Dickie Sayers hit 61 not out to see Thornham to victory over Garboldisham and third place, while Snettisham 2nd XI lost to Reepham & Salle and East Harling’s wait for a win continues as they were washed out against Hardingham.

Snettisham posted just 77 (Dan Fuller 20), but pushed Reepham & Salle all the way, with the visitors replying on 83-7 in the 30th over.

Danny Suckling was the pick of the Snettisham bowlers with 3-18 off ten overs.

Reepham & Salle also notched a victory, while

Saham Toney consolidated their standing at the head of Division 3 West thanks to the prolific Simon Mower (58) and Craig Ellis (4-10), while Heacham won largely due to Matthew Blake with 79 and Tom Williams grabbing 6-18.

Bircham remain top of Division 4 West, Dan King’s 4-4 setting up their win. George Bridges took 4-33 for Beeston, but Kevin Bandy cracaked 83 for Gooderstone as they ran out winners. Martyn Wardle hit 76* and Jack Challen took 4-16 for Denver in their win, while Camorn Coverdale hit 50* as Mundford A won, while Philip Bond helped himself to 4-25 as North Elmham also won.

The T20 competitions are back on track, with wins in the Cup for holders Narborough, Halvergate, Happisburgh and Snettisham, while in the Plate, Aylsham St Giles, Rocklands, Saham Toney and Great Yarmouth also notched up wins. A busy week ahead sees the second phase almost complete, with Finals Day scheduled for July 21st at Sprowston CC.
