King’s Lynn boss hopes players will grow after midweek win against Leamington in National League North
Ian Culverhouse believes King’s Lynn Town’s 2-0 midweek victory over Leamington could prove a turning point in their National League North season.
Second-half goals from Gold Omotayo and Morgan Williams earned Lynn their first win since the end of August and gave them some breathing space away from the drop zone.
It also extended a home sequence for Lynn chief Culverhouse, who has begun his third spell in charge in the same way he began the others - with wins.
Culverhouse said: “I think it will do the group good, it will help them with their confidence, because obviously they've been low on confidence because results haven't been going our way.
“But hopefully this group will grow with this one. I know we've got a toughie coming up (at second-placed South Shields on Saturday) and we've got to be really prepared and organised to go up there.
“But I was so pleased for them, because looking at them in training you can see they needed a win, and the relief in that changing room afterwards was magnificent really.
“They've just got to stay together, through bad things and good things, they just really have to stay together as a group, because like I said before, there is some talent in there, there really is, and it's important that you forget about the noise on the outside and just concentrate on your job.”
Lynn completely dominated the second half at the Docherty Walks Stadium.
Omotayo stuck out a leg to divert the ball high into the net off the frame of the goal as Lynn took the lead nine minutes into the second half.
The visitors were hanging on grimly going into the final ten minutes as the Linnets pushed for a second goal to make the game safe.
It arrived in the 83rd minute as they piled forward in numbers, Omotayo squaring for the unmarked Williams to slot past Rogan Ravenhill.
