King’s Lynn debutants impress in first SAL meeting at Bury St Edmunds
West Norfolk had several debutants in good form in the first of this year's Southern Athletics League meetings (SAL) at Bury.
The league is for any athlete from the U17 age group and older, where all athletes compete in one age group.
It was great to see a few first-timers in the U17 category come along and join the team.
Thomas Green, Malou Lewis and Isla Jackson all had brilliant league debuts.
Jackson continued her triple jump success with 10.36 for second place.
Green was successful in the 100 (12.3), 200 (26.3) and the long jump (4.34) and anchored the 4x1 relay team.
Lewis had a brilliant high jump with 1.20 and her debut 200 of 32.3.
All three would have been the youngest athletes on the track on the day and did themselves proud.
Senior John Greenhalgh not only officiated but fitted in a sub-3,800 m with 2.58 and a 6.17 1500m.
Thanks also go to Stuart Ross for his officiating on the day.
Cameron Ross joined Grenn on the 100 (13.8), 200 (29.5) and long jump (4.28).
Adam Howard took home a bruise to mark his debut in the pole vault but got valuable points by coming second in the PV B string with 1.20m.
He also ran the 3000 in 10.57 and did every throwing event.
Ian Reeve also vaulted with 2m in the V70 age group.
Hannah Greenhalgh had a season's best of 28 in the 200 and another great 800 run in 2.29.
Jen Gosnell rounded off the athletes having a busy day tem managing and taking part in all the throws as well as a 3.50m long jump.
With three more matches to go in this league, the club look forward to seeing more great performances and newcomers.
