Denver defied their status at Heacham as underdogs having not beaten AFC Lynn in their previous four attempts.

Denver captain Jamie Plummer and Simon Harvey were rock solid in the heart of the defence and Marcus Cumberbatch and Andrew Carter dominated the fierce midfield battle.

Carter directed his header straight at the AFC Lynn goalkeeper. Lynn rattled the post with Ben Young at full stretch while Denverâ s Dion Evans struck the outside of the post.

In the second half both teams had spells on possession. The winner came when Evans, crossing into the box, found the top right hand corner. AFC created chances but the back four held firm.

â I am immensely proud of the whole squad and so pleased to end our debut season in NWNFL Division 1 in third position,â said manager Darren Thorpe.
