Downham Town leave it late to claim point in Thurlow Nunn Division One North clash

Thurlow Nunn League Division One North leaders Downham Town scored two late goals in a six-goal thriller against Needham Reserves on Saturday.

Downham Town, who had gone in front through Robbie Priddle, found themselves 3-1 down with 10 minutes to go on the 3G surface.

But a late double from Jack Frohawk preserved their lead at the top of the table after Mulbarton Wanderers drew against AFC Sudbury Reserves by the same scoreline at home.

Downham know the final outcome could have been so different had they not squandered a number of opportunities at the start of the second period.

King’s Lynn Town Reserves picked up a welcome three points with a 2-1 victory over Sheringham at the Elgood’s Stadium.

On target for Lynn’s second string, who host Downham next in a derby on Friday night, were Joseph Taylor and Ben Welch as the team completed a league double over Sheringham.

In the Norfolk Senior Cup, both Fakenham Town and Swaffham Town crashed out at the fourth round stage of the competition at the weekend.

Swaffham Town suffered a 4-0 reverse at home to Norwich United at Shoemakers Lane while Fakenham Town went down 2-0 at Anglian Combination outfit Harleston Town.
