Downham athlete participates in Vitruvian National Middle Distance Triathlon at Rutland Water
Rutland Water hosted the National middle distance triathlon on Sunday.
Downham's Josh Josh entered as training preparation for his World Championship long-distance Iron Man race in Hawaii at the end of next month.
A very wet start at 6.30am saw the swimmers enter Rutland Lake for a 1.2-mile swim.
Holman exited well positioned after a staggered start and left transition positioned 10th on the road for the 56-mile bike stage.
The bike route was a mixture of very wet roads, so challenging conditions made things difficult as the three-lap course brought the cyclists each time into Rutland complex to navigate tricky corners and speed humps, not ideal, but it enabled spectators to see the race unfold.
Holman entered the second transition placed sixth before the 13.1-mile run, consisting of two laps around part of Rutland Lakes.
He again moved up the field to finish in third place and take his position on the podium for the presentation.
